Tecolote Canyon is a popular city hike in San Diego. Typically people start the in and out hike from the trailhead at the Tecolote Canyon Nature Center but with a little help of MTS you can turn this hike into a one way hike. You can reach the east end of the trail via the MTS line 41. Be careful with though because in order to reach the trailhead you will need to walk along Genesee Ave for 0.2 miles.

Once you are on the trail you'll follow the trail signs. You'll walk along shaded areas and will need to cross the creek a couple of times so depending on the season make sure to wear proper shoes. After a nice little swing you will walk alongside the Tecolote Canyon Golf Couse until you reach the last stretch with beautiful views on the University of San Diego.

After you rech the Nature Center you have a couple of options. You can continue for another 15 minute and walk to Tecolote Road Trolley Station but we recommend you reward yourself with a nice meal at one of the restaurants in Bay Park. Coronado Brewing has some great food and drink options and if you're looking for a cafeeine boost after your hike, you should check out Bird Rock Coffee Roasters on Morena Blvd
