RideSD is a team of passionate change-makers dedicated to creating a better transportation future for San Diego. We bring diverse skills and experiences to the table and we welcome new members who want to make a difference alongside us. Our internships are hands-on and supervised by experts in the field, offering a unique opportunity to learn and create impactful work that prepares you for a future in city planning, communications, or policy. With a minimum commitment of just 5 hours a week and a flexible work schedule, you'll gain invaluable experience while joining a dynamic, fun, and mission-driven team shaping the future of transit.

Internship Opportunities

  • Digital Media Creator

    Are you a creative with a passion for graphic design and storytelling? This internship offers hands-on experience in digital media creation while building skills in public communication and advocacy.

    You will learn how to:

    - Present San Diego’s urban planning developments in engaging, visually appealing ways that resonate with everyday people.

    - Create social media content that translates complex transit policies into clear, accessible language for the public.

    - Develop compelling calls to action that inspire communities to engage with local government.

    This role provides mentorship and real-world experience in graphic design, public outreach, and digital advocacy.

    Basic graphic design skills required; experience with tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar preferred.

  • Transit Policy Correspondent

    Are you aspiring to a career in policy or journalism? This internship provides hands-on experience in tracking, analyzing, and communicating transit policy developments while honing your research and writing skills.

    - Create concise briefs that efficiently explain complex policy issues.

  • Spatial & Transportation Network Mapper

    Are you passionate about mapping and city planning? This internship offers hands-on experience in geospatial analysis, helping you develop valuable visual and analytical skills.

    You will learn how to:

    - Use mapping tools to analyze and visualize transportation networks.

    - Create maps that highlight the intersection between developments, infrastructure projects, and transportation networks.

    - Collaborate with the team to translate complex policy issues into compelling visuals to improve public understanding.

    This role provides mentorship and real-world experience in geospatial analysis, urban planning, and transportation network design to prepare you for a future in planning, data visualization, or policy.

    Basic experience with GIS or similar mapping tools is required.
