Annie’s Canyon Trail has become a social media favorite thanks to its narrow, winding slot canyon. Crawling through the sandstone walls is playful and memorable, especially for kids.
What many visitors don’t realize is that the trail is just a short walk from Solana Beach Station, with direct connections to San Diego via the Coaster or Amtrak.
But what a lot of people don’t know is that the trail is only a short walk from Solana Beach Station which connects to San Diego via the Coaster or Amtrak, making it transit accessible.
From the station, head north on the east side of the tracks through quiet residential streets until you reach the North Rios Ave trailhead.
The slot canyon itself is only half a mile from the trailhead. On weekends there may be a short wait to enter, but the line usually moves quickly.
After taking in the views, you can return the same way to the station or continue on to one of the many restaurants along Pacific Highway 101.
With a scenic train ride and a playful canyon at the end, it’s an easy outing for both kids and adults.
